Who is MerchantScribe for?

Shopify teams onboarding and maintaining business customers using Shopify B2B Companies. Your store needs access to Companies and the appropriate permissions. See Shopify’s current B2B plan features for availability.

What can I upload?

Unlocked PDFs and JPEG, PNG, or WebP images. Add up to five files per business, up to 20 MiB each and ten pages per PDF. The initial focus includes EIN letters, sales-tax permits, resale certificates, business licenses, and W-9s. Convert HEIC photos before uploading.

Does it save to Shopify automatically?

No. Drafts autosave while you review, but you choose the company or location and approve the final save. You can create a company, add a location, or update an existing record. A named buyer contact is optional.

Does it verify permits or tax exemptions?

MerchantScribe extracts and organizes document information. It does not authenticate documents, verify business legitimacy, or determine tax-exempt status. Your team remains responsible for those checks.

How are documents handled?

Originals are stored privately and encrypted at rest, with configurable retention. Document content is processed using OpenAI to extract business details. Your review and approval come before changes to Shopify.

Is it available on the Shopify App Store?

MerchantScribe is in private preview. Join early access to hear when it’s ready. Pricing and any trial terms will be published with the public listing. Joining the list doesn’t install the app or charge you.
